The Presence of Elk in the Wild from Adolescent Students’ Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
In recent years, we have increasingly encountered reintroduction efforts or spontaneous returns of species to places from which they were gradually displaced until complete extermination. Such reintroduction processes and effective assistance in spontaneous returns are preceded by a series of political and scientific preparatory steps, one of which is public opinion research. In the case of this study, this step comprised research into the attitudes of pupils in different types of schools towards the European elk (Alces alces), and the search for factors that may influence these attitudes. For this purpose, we have chosen the form of a questionnaire survey with subsequent evaluation in MS Excel, Statistica 12 and Jamovi. Based on the results, we can show here that students' attitudes vary with their knowledge of European elk and with their fear of this species.
