Abstract

Pollutant release and transfer registers (PRTR) provide publicly accessible information about pollution which specific facilities emit into the environment. PRTRs are the subject of many international agreements and European (national) law. In present more than 30 countries have public registers. In the Czech Republic an integrated pollution register has been implemented from the year 2004 and contains information about more than 1000 facilities. Data reports are available through a special internet website. Many target groups (state administrative, public authorities, students, universities, schools, media, environmental NGOs, industrial associations, local communities) can access data for different purposes.
